NeoDyne is seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our Galway office on a full-time permanent basis. You will join a two-year development track, rotating through projects to build hands-on design experience across electrical, instrumentation and control systems.

You’ll work on coordinated drawings, substation design and grid-related studies, with training, mentoring, and opportunities to travel to client sites for installation, testing and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Level 8 degree in Electrical/Power Systems/ Energy Engineering.
• 0–2 years' experience in electrical design or work placement.
• Full Irish driving license or to be achieved within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Prepare coordinated drawings covering installations: mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and structural elements.
• Produce Gas Transmission AGI design: Electrical Layouts, LV Distribution, Control & Instrumentation.
• Conduct Power Systems studies: load estimates, protection coordination, cable sizing calcs.
• Generate technical documentation and engage with customers; travel to sites for install/commission.

Transmission & Distribution

Within our Transmission & Distribution team, we deliver mission-critical design packages that transform the reliability, availability, and efficiency of the energy network, moving it towards a greener, more sustainable future. Department highlights include:

• Driving complex design delivery: We design AIS/GIS substations from 20kV to 220kV and contestable build and non-contestable stations in the range of 40 to 550MVA CCGT. Connections include conventional and renewable Power Generation, Peaking, Battery Storage, DS3 and Solar PV plants and large demand loads such as data centres and process plants.
• Delivery of high-complexity design frameworks: NeoDyne is a gas network design framework supplier, playing a significant role in providing electrical and instrumentation engineering services for the on-shore Natural Gas Industry and Regulated gas utility sector in Ireland and the UK. Our expertise include Compressor Station, AGI Electrical & Instrumentation design, Fiscal and non-Fiscal metering, and Cathodic Protection.

With a team of 220+ skilled engineers, our expertise spans the entire project lifecycle, from design and implementation to commissioning and operations. Position Summary

NeoDyne are recruiting a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our expanding engineering teams. Our graduate programme is all about learning new and developing your existing skills. Over a two-year period, you will be placed in projects where you get to do meaningful work and contribute to the business.

This Graduate opportunity is offered as a full-time permanent contract, based at our Galway Office, with an excellent salary and benefits package. What might I be doing?

• Projects could include preparation of coordinated drawings covering all aspects of installations, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and structural elements. More specifically, you will be producing Gas Transmission AGI Design including, Electrical Layouts, LV Distribution Design, Control & Instrumentation Design, Earth Grid Design and General Services Design.
• Carrying out Power Systems Electrical Studies: Load Estimates, Protection Coordination, Cable Sizing Calcs. You will have the opportunity to use state-of-the-art engineering software for control and protection design and substation layouts. You will also get to use leading-edge power system modelling software to run steady state and transient electrical studies, including short circuit studies, protection coordination and grid compliance studies for proposed renewable generation.
• Generating technical documentation and dealing with customers will also be key parts of our graduate programme to help develop your soft skills.
• You will also have the opportunity to travel to customer sites to get involved in installation, testing, and commissioning, by participating in design & commissioning of SCADA and control systems in the field.

Required

Experience & skills

• Level 8 Degree in Electrical/ Power Systems/ Energy Engineering, or equivalent.
• 0-2 years' experience in a similar electrical design role or Work Placement.
• Full Irish driving license or to be achieved within 12 months of starting the role.

Desired

• Experience in developing Electrical Schematics using AutoCAD, EPLAN or similar.
• Experience in developing equipment layouts using AutoCAD, or similar.
