Job summary

NeoDyne is seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join the Power Generation & Energy Systems team in Waterford. You will work on electrical design, distribution design, and control/instrumentation projects as part of a two-year graduate program.

You will gain hands-on experience across project design, documentation, and field deployment, with training, mentorship, and a clear path to professional certification within a collaborative, people-first culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors-level engineering degree in electrical power systems or energy engineering.
  • 0-2 years of electrical design experience or placement.
  • Full Irish driving licence or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare coordinated electrical designs including layouts for LV/MV distribution and instrumentation.
  • Perform power systems studies: load estimates, protection coordination, cable sizing calculations.

Position Summary

NeoDyne are recruiting a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our expanding Power Generation & Energy Systems team. Our graduate programme is all about learning new and developing your existing skills. Over a two-year period, you will be placed in projects where you get to do meaningful work and contribute to the business.

This Graduate opportunity is offered as a full-time permanent contract, based at our Waterford Office, with an excellent salary and benefits package. What will I be doing?
  • Projects could include preparation of coordinated drawings covering all aspects of installations, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and structural elements. More specifically, you will be producing Electrical Design including, Electrical Layouts, LV & MV Distribution Design, Control & Instrumentation Design and General Services Design.
  • Carrying out Power Systems Electrical Studies: Load Estimates, Protection Coordination, Cable Sizing Calcs. You will have the opportunity to use state-of-the-art engineering software along side leading-edge power system modelling software to run steady state and transient electrical studies, including short circuit studies, and protection studies for proposed renewable generation
  • Generating technical documentation and dealing with customers will also be key parts of our graduate programme to help develop your soft skills. You will be producing specifications for various electrical equipment and assemblies: transformers, RTUs, instrumentation etc.
  • You will also have the opportunity to travel to customer sites to get involved in installation, testing, and commissioning, by participating in design & commissioning of SCADA and control systems in the field: I/O and instrumentation testing, full testing and commissioning.

Required
Experience & skills
  • Level 8 Degree in Electrical/ Power Systems/ Energy Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years' experience in a similar electrical design role or Work Placement.
  • Full Irish driving license or to be achieved within 12 months of starting the role.
Desired
  • Experience in developing Electrical Schematics using AutoCAD, EPLAN or similar.
  • Experience in developing equipment layouts using AutoCAD, or similar.
