You will lead a small design group delivering HV/MV protection and control schemes for substations and renewable projects, coordinating with clients and suppliers to meet delivery milestones. Qualifications

Level 8 degree in Electrical, Energy Engineering, or equivalent.
6–10 years of experience in electrical or substation design.
Experience with EPLAN for electrical schematics.
Experience with substation clearances and layouts.
Knowledge of the energy sector.

Responsibilities

Lead a design team delivering protection and control designs for HV and MV substations.
Design AC/DC auxiliary systems, control panels, marshalling cabinets, and wiring diagrams.
Prepare Protection Coordination Studies, fault current calculations, and relay grading reports.
Create detailed control logic diagrams and interfaces for SCADA/RTU/IED integration.
Coordinate with clients, OEMs, and suppliers on design interfaces and delivery schedules.
Carry out Factory Acceptance Testing on Control & Protection panels and participate in progress meetings.

Position Summary

NeoDyne is on the lookout for a talented and driven Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing Transmission & Distribution team. Driving complex design delivery: We design AIS/GIS substations from 20kV to 220kV and contestable build and non-contestable stations in the range of 40 to 550MVA CCGT. Connections include conventional and renewable Power Generation, Peaking, Battery Storage, DS3 and Solar PV plants and large demand loads such as data centres and process plants.
Delivery of high-complexity design frameworks: NeoDyne is a gas network design framework supplier, playing a significant role in providing electrical and instrumentation engineering services for the on-shore Natural Gas Industry and Regulated gas utility sector in Ireland and the UK. Our expertise include Compressor Station, AGI Electrical & Instrumentation design, Fiscal and non-Fiscal metering, and Cathodic Protection.

With a team of 230+ skilled engineers, our expertise spans the entire project lifecycle, from design and implementation to commissioning and operations. Key Responsibilities

Design and Engineering

Lead a design team delivering protection and control (P&C) designs for HV and MV substations, including protection schemes, control schematics, SLDs, and interlocking diagrams.
Specify and design AC/DC auxiliary systems, control panels, marshalling cabinets, and wiring diagrams.
Prepare Protection Coordination Studies, fault current calculations, and relay grading reports.
Select and configure protection relays and prepare detailed relay setting files.
Create detailed control logic diagrams, signal lists, and communication interfaces for SCADA, RTU, and IED integration.
Reviewing Client or Employer Requirements for a project and ensuring design compliance.
Producing & reviewing specifications for various electrical equipment and assemblies (transformers, circuit breakers, instrument transformers etc.).

Documentation and Compliance

Produce comprehensive design documentation, wiring schedules, technical specifications, and as-built drawings.
Ensure compliance with local Transmission and Distribution Utilities, and IEC/EN standards, as well as client-specific design rules.
Support the development and continuous improvement of design templates, engineering standards, and QA processes.

Project Delivery and Collaboration

Reporting to Senior Engineering Manager and Transmission & Distribution Director on projects
Manage and mentor junior and graduate engineers.
Engage with clients, OEMs, and suppliers to clarify design interfaces, technical requirements, and delivery schedules.
Support proposal development, cost estimation, and technical tender reviews for new projects.
Carrying out Factory Acceptance Testing on Control & Protection panels. Attending on project progress meetings and site surveys.

Experience & Skills

Required

Level 8 Degree in Electrical, Energy Engineering, or equivalent
6-10 years’ experience in a similar electrical or substation design role
Experience in developing Electrical Schematics using EPLAN.
Experience of substation clearances and layouts
Knowledge and experience in the Energy sector
Experience of developing electrical design studies an advantage.
Experience in use of the above in ESB/Eirgrid substation environment an advantage
