Job summary

Waruna Shipping Group is seeking a Business Development Specialist for Tug & Barge Fleet to drive revenue, expand the client portfolio, and optimize fleet utilization. You will own the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing, and maintain long-term partnerships with clients in the maritime sector.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years in commercial/sales chartering within shipping or maritime industries, with a strong network and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Maritime Studies, Business, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Commercial / Sales / Chartering within tug & barge, shipping, or maritime industry.
• Strong network in coal mining, logistics, shipping lines, or commodity sectors is highly preferred.
• Proven track record in achieving sales targets and generating revenue.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and client management skills.
• Commercially driven, target-oriented, and highly proactive.
• Solid understanding of chartering terms, pricing structure, and barge operations.
• Fluent in English is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively identify, approach, and acquire new clients for tug & barge services
• Drive revenue growth by securing contracts, spot charter, and long-term agreements
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat business
• Develop and execute commercial strategies to maximize fleet utilization and profitability
• Prepare commercial proposals, quotations, and lead pricing & contract negotiations
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify new opportunities
• Collaborate closely with operations and fleet teams to ensure smooth service delivery
• Manage and track sales pipeline to consistently achieve and exceed revenue targets
