Job summary

Waruna Shipping Group is seeking an experienced Port Engineer in Jakarta to oversee vessel machinery and propulsion systems, coordinate troubleshooting, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance across the fleet. The role requires coordinating with shipboard crews, yards, and vendors to plan maintenance and major repairs.

Ideal candidates have at least 5 years as a Chief Engineer on Harbour Tug, ASD Tug, or AHTS vessels, plus 1+ year shore-based experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as Chief Engineer on Harbour Tug, ASD Tug, or AHTS vessels.
• Preferably 1+ year of shore-based experience in a technical or marine engineering role.
• Proven experience in troubleshooting vessel machinery failures and propulsion systems.
• Good understanding of marine machinery, propulsion systems, maintenance, and vessel technical operations.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and coordination with vessel crews, shipyards, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support the technical condition and performance of vessels, particularly machinery and propulsion systems.
• Provide technical support and coordinate troubleshooting of machinery and propulsion system failures.
• Analyze technical issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions to minimize disruptions.
• Coordinate with vessel crews, chief engineers, shipyards, and vendors for repairs and maintenance.
• Monitor planned and corrective maintenance to ensure reliability and readiness.
• Conduct vessel visits and inspections to assess machinery condition and performance.
• Support major repairs, overhauls, dry-docking, and technical projects.
• Review reports and data to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
• Ensure activities comply with company procedures, class, and MARPOL and ISM requirements.
• Maintain documentation related to technical issues, repairs, and machinery.

We are looking for an experienced Port Engineer to support the technical and operational performance of our fleet. This role will be responsible for overseeing vessel machinery and propulsion systems, coordinating technical troubleshooting and maintenance activities, and ensuring vessels remain safe, reliable, and compliant with applicable maritime standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support the technical condition and performance of vessels, particularly vessel machinery, propulsion systems, and related equipment
• Provide technical support and coordinate troubleshooting of machinery and propulsion system failures
• Analyze technical issues and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions to minimize operational disruptions
• Coordinate with vessel crews, Chief Engineers, shipyards, workshops, and relevant vendors for repair, maintenance, and technical matters
• Monitor the implementation of planned maintenance and corrective maintenance to ensure vessel reliability and operational readiness
• Conduct vessel visits and inspections to assess machinery condition, maintenance status, and technical performance
• Support the planning and execution of major repairs, overhauls, dry-docking, and technical projects
• Review technical reports, maintenance records, and machinery performance data to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement
• Ensure vessel technical activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures, class requirements, flag regulations, and applicable maritime regulations
• Support compliance with ISM Code, MARPOL, Class requirements, and other relevant maritime standards
• Maintain proper documentation and records related to technical issues, repairs, maintenance, and vessel machinery
• Provide technical input for maintenance planning, spare parts requirements, repair budgets, and technical procurement
• Identify opportunities to improve vessel reliability, maintenance efficiency, and technical performance
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure effective coordination between shipboard and shore-based technical operations
