Job summary

PT Asianfast Marine Industries in Batam, Indonesia seeks a Technical Buyer to manage procurement of shipbuilding materials, equipment, and spares. You will source suppliers, evaluate offers, and negotiate terms to meet project needs.

You will review drawings and BOM, coordinate with Engineering, Production, QA/QC, and suppliers, issue POs, and chase critical items while ensuring compliance with project specs and certificates.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor's in Engineering (Mechanical/Marine/Electrical/Industrial).
• 2–3 years in Technical Purchasing/Procurement, shipyard/marine industry preferred.
• Knowledge of shipbuilding materials and equipment.
• Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Procure technical materials, equipment, spare parts, and consumables for shipbuilding and ship repair projects.
• Source and evaluate suppliers based on quality, price, technical specifications, and delivery performance.
• Request quotations, compare offers, and negotiate price, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
• Review drawings, BOMs, datasheets, and specifications to ensure purchasing requirements are met.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Project, Production, QA/QC, Warehouse, and suppliers.
• Issue, monitor, and expedite Purchase Orders (POs), especially for critical/long-lead items.
• Ensure purchased materials comply with project specs and required certificates.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery/quality issues.
• Support cost-saving initiatives and supplier development.

About you

Minimum Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Marine, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering

Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Technical Purchasing/Procurement, preferably in a shipyard, shipbuilding, marine, offshore, or heavy industry environment

Good understanding of shipbuilding and ship repair materials and equipment

Good negotiation, communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Good command of English, both written and spoken

Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and coordinate with multiple departments

Strong integrity, detail‑oriented, proactive, and responsible
