Job summary

PT Marcopolo Shipyard in Batam is seeking an experienced Commercial Officer to manage the commercial aspects of shipyard projects, from accurate cost estimation to technical document analysis. You will collaborate with engineering, production and procurement to align costs with specifications, prepare commercial proposals and tenders, and report in English.

The role requires strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture.
• Minimum 3 years in a Shipyard Commercial Department.
• Proficient in cost estimation, material take-off, and AutoCAD.
• Excellent command of English for business communication.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Officer to join our team at PT Marcopolo Shipyard in Batam. In this role, you will be responsible for handling the commercial aspects of shipyard projects, ranging from accurate cost estimation to technical document analysis, ensuring the competitiveness and profitability of our shipyard operations.

What you'll be doing

Perform accurate cost estimations and price bidding for shipbuilding or ship repair projects.

Conduct material take-offs (MTO) and analyze technical ship drawings using AutoCAD to determine material and labor requirements.

Prepare comprehensive commercial proposals, tenders, and business correspondence.

Draft, review, and handle commercial reporting and business documentation in English.

Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and procurement teams to align project costs and specifications.

Analyze project variances and monitor commercial performance to ensure high efficiency.

What we're looking for

Minimum Diploma or Degree (D3/S1) in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture (Highly Preferred).

Minimum 3 years of professional experience specifically in a Shipyard's Commercial Department.

Highly proficient in cost estimation, material take-off, and familiar with technical ship drawings (AutoCAD).

Excellent command of English (both written and verbal) for business correspondence and reporting.

Strong work attitude, high commitment, excellent analytical skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
