Job summary

ABB is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to execute on-site service tasks with a focus on first-time-right solutions. You will engage with customers, diagnose automation issues, and apply ABB standard processes and safety guidelines to keep systems running smoothly.

With 8+ years in Automation & Controls, you will handle maintenance, testing, FAT/SAT, and technical troubleshooting across industries including oil, gas, chemicals, and power sectors.

Qualifications

• Degree / Diploma in Engineering related disciplines.
• 8+ years’ experience in Automation & Controls Systems.
• Good understanding of HMI, DCS, Scada, PLC, IT, OT, P&ID, Safety & automation systems.
• Preferable knowledge in ABB Automation 800xA and ABB Automation Symphony S+ and Cyber Security Work Place (CSWP).
• Experience in Maintenance / Testing & commissioning / FAT / SAT in Automation System.
• Preferable working experience in Oil, Gas & Chemical plant/ Offshore/ Power & Water Industries.

Responsibilities

• Work with the customer (on-site) to identify opportunities to improve operations.
• Perform field service tasks, identify technical issues, and analyze remotely or on-site.
• Prepare material lists for service activity and ensure availability of quality parts and equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment/process failures and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work with low to medium complexity as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. Each day, you will plan and execute work on a first-time right approach with customers. You will also showcase your expertise by displaying a clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in your own area of responsibility.

This role is contributing to the Automation Energy Business in Indonesia.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Working with the customer (while on-site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer’s operations and eliminate pain points.
• Performing field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on‑site activity in service categories and products.
• Preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities.
• Troubleshooting equipment/process failures, requesting proactive corrective actions, and making recommendations to avoid such issues in the future.

Qualifications for the role

• Degree / Diploma in Engineering related disciplines
• Minimum 8+ years’ experience in Automation & Controls Systems
