About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Sales Surf Retail assistant to join our team at Dharma Uluwatu in South Kuta, Bali. This is a full-time position where you will be at the heart of our retail operations, providing exceptional customer service and driving sales in our dynamic surf retail environment. As a Sales Surf Retail assistant, you will play a crucial role in creating memorable shopping experiences for our customers whilst maintaining our high standards of product knowledge and service excellence. This role offers the opportunity to work in one of Bali's most vibrant retail locations, combining your passion for surfing with a rewarding career in retail.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and provide expert assistance in selecting surf equipment, clothing and accessories tailored to their needs and skill level
• Demonstrate in-depth product knowledge of surfboards, wetsuits, fins and other retail offerings, highlighting features, benefits and suitability for different conditions
• Process sales transactions efficiently and accurately, utilising the point-of-sale system and handling cash and card payments
• Maintain visual merchandising standards throughout the store, ensuring products are attractively displayed and stocks are well-organised
• Conduct regular stock checks and assist with inventory management, reporting low stock levels and new product arrivals
• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, encouraging repeat business and customer loyalty
• Provide personalised recommendations based on customer preferences, experience level and budget
• Keep abreast of current surf conditions and trends to provide relevant advice and recommendations to customers
• Support the team during peak trading periods and contribute to a positive, collaborative working environment
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations

What we're looking for

• Genuine passion for surfing and the surf culture, with personal experience in the sport
• Proven experience in retail sales or customer service roles, preferably in a sports or lifestyle retail environment
• Strong product knowledge of surf equipment and brands, or the ability to develop this quickly
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage customers and explain technical product features in an accessible way
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst also taking initiative independently
• Positive attitude, energy and enthusiasm that creates a welcoming atmosphere for customers
• Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and peak periods
• Basic numeracy skills and proficiency with point-of-sale systems or similar technology
• A neat, professional appearance that aligns with our brand standards
• Fluency in English; additional languages such as Indonesian or other regional languages are highly desirable
