Job summary

IOM invites applications for an Internship in Refugee Care based in Kupang, Indonesia. The intern supports day‑to‑day activities, assists in counselling, data collection for mental health and psychosocial support, and helps with protection activities and school outreach under supervision.

Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is required. The appointment is locally recruited, with a small monthly stipend and standard UN internship conditions.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum undergraduate) in Psychology, Social Welfare, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
• Enrolled in a second university degree (graduate school/equivalent) or graduated within one year of graduation.
• Experience is an advantage and fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is required, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day Refugee Care activities in Kupang and assist in organizing unit events.
• Co‑facilitate non‑clinical counselling sessions under supervision of Refugee Care Unit.
• Assist in data collection and maintenance for mental health and psychosocial support.
• Support protection activities, awareness sessions, and coordination with education team for school visits.
