Job summary

PT Pacific Medan Industri seeks a Research & Development Manager to organize activities, review customer requirements and coordinate trials in line with Design & Development.

You will lead R&D projects, manage budgets and supervise staff while ensuring compliance with food safety standards and SAP-based processes. Fluent English is preferred; based at the Medan plant with cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Food Science & Technology.
• At least 2 years of working experience in a related field.
• Understanding of research and product formulation management, application testing, and customer-specific requirements.
• Able to manage the R&D department's human resource budget, utilize SAP systems, and implement food safety management system standards.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Fluent in English both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Organize research and development activities to achieve department objectives
• Receive, review and study customer requirements
• Coordinate trial and test in accordance with Design & Development activities
• Conduct continuous research for product quality improvement
• Coordinate with Research and Development Manager on human resource matters including recruitment, training, and performance appraisal
• Conduct customer research for finished product application
• Appraise subordinate performance on a semester basis
• Plan and propose regular training for skill development of subordinates
• Submit yearly budget proposal to R&D Manager
