Job summary

Austin Engineering Ltd. is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to lead complex engineering, manufacturing, and fabrication initiatives in Batam, Indonesia.

You will plan, schedule, and control scope, cost, and resources to ensure delivery on time, within budget and to customer specifications. The role requires strong planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication skills, with English proficiency and PMP experience being advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
• 8–10+ years of project management experience in engineering/manufacturing/fabrication environments.
• Experience managing complex multi-disciplinary projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong skills in planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management and resource coordination.
• Experience with engineering, fabrication, manufacturing or industrial projects is highly desirable.
• PM methodologies and project controls knowledge; PMP is an advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Your future role

The Project Manager will play a vital role in the effective planning, execution, monitoring, and control of complex engineering, manufacturing, and fabrication projects. The position is responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within approved budget, and in accordance with customer requirements and quality standards. The role requires excellent skills in project planning, scheduling, cost control, resource management, risk mitigation, stakeholder communication, and performance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Planning & Execution: plan, organize, and manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring all activities are clearly defined and executed according to the approved project plan.
• Project Schedule Management: develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and priorities. Monitor progress against the baseline schedule and take action to prevent or recover delays.
• Cross-Functional Coordination; coordinate closely with Engineering, Procurement, Production, Fabrication, Quality, HSE, Logistics, Finance, and subcontractors to ensure all project activities are properly aligned and completed on time.
• Cost & Budget Control: monitor project budgets, costs, and resource utilization. Identify cost variances and work with relevant teams to maintain the project within the approved budget.
• Resource Management: ensure the availability and effective utilization of manpower, materials, equipment, facilities, and subcontractors based on project requirements and schedule.
• Project Progress Monitoring: track project performance, including schedule, cost, quality, resources, and deliverables. Identify deviations early and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Risk & Issue Management: identify potential project risks and operational issues, assess their impact, and develop mitigation or recovery plans to minimize delays and additional costs.
• Quality Management: ensure project deliverables meet customer specifications, engineering requirements, quality standards, and applicable procedures. Coordinate with the Quality team to resolve quality issues.
• HSE Management: promote a strong safety culture and support safe project execution.
• Customer & Stakeholder Management: maintain effective communication with customers, management, and internal stakeholders. Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, risks, and required decisions.
• Change & Scope Management: monitor changes to project scope, specifications, schedule, and customer requirements. Evaluate the impact of changes on cost, schedule, resources, and delivery.
• Project Meetings & Communication: leading regular project coordination and progress meetings. Ensure action items, responsibilities, and deadlines are clearly assigned and followed up.
• Project Reporting: prepare and present regular project reports covering schedule, cost, progress, risks, quality, HSE, and key issues to management and relevant stakeholders.
• Project Documentation & Close-Out: ensure project documentation is complete and properly maintained. Coordinate final inspection, handover, documentation, lessons learned, and project close-out activities.
• Continuous Improvement: identify opportunities to improve project execution, productivity, cost efficiency, quality, and delivery performance, and apply lessons learned to future projects.

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
• 8–10+ years of relevant project management experience, preferably within engineering, heavy equipment, manufacturing, fabrication, mining, construction, or industrial environments.
• Proven experience managing complex projects involving multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
• Experience in project planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and resource coordination.
• Experience working with engineering, fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial projects is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies and project controls.
• Experience with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Excel, ERP systems, or equivalent project-management tools is an advantage.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is an advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
