Job summary

APRIL is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the Recovery Boiler and its auxiliaries in ensuring safe, reliable operation. You will develop maintenance strategies, monitor equipment performance, and lead RCFA investigations to prevent recurrence.

You will read and interpret P&IDs, GA drawings and other specs, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and supervise major inspections and shutdowns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience as Mechanical Engineer in a Recovery Boiler and preferably in the Pulp & Paper industry.
• Strong knowledge of Recovery Boiler systems, pressure parts, steam generation equipment, piping, pumps, fans, valves, soot blowers, and rotating equipment.
• Experience in maintenance engineering, equipment reliability, shutdown planning, and troubleshooting.
• Familiar with RCFA, RCM, and preventive/predictive maintenance methodologies.
• Able to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, PFDs, GA drawings, and technical specifications.
• Experience using SAP PM is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of ASME/API or other pressure equipment standards is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures to ensure compliance with standards.
• Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, and Reliability teams to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
• Manage equipment reliability for critical assets including pressure parts, soot blowers, fans, pumps, piping, valves, ash handling systems, and auxiliaries.
• Ensure all activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company practices.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and maintenance efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a Recovery Boiler, preferably within the Pulp & Paper industry.
• Strong knowledge of Recovery Boiler systems, pressure parts, steam generation equipment, piping systems, pumps, fans, valves, soot blowers, and rotating equipment.
• Experience in maintenance engineering, equipment reliability, shutdown planning, and troubleshooting.
• Familiar with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and preventive/predictive maintenance methodologies.
• Able to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, PFDs, GA drawings, and technical specifications.
• Experience using SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM) is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of ASME, API, or other applicable pressure equipment standards will be an advantage.
• Willing to be based in Pangkalan Kerinci, Pelalawan Regency, Riau, Indonesia.
