Job summary

Apical in Dumai seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to lead and coordinate maintenance of utility and power plant equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The role focuses on supervising technicians, planning preventive work, and managing critical systems.

You will oversee boilers, turbines, pumps, cooling towers, DM Water and WWTP systems; ensure accuracy of PM records, vibration reports, and spare parts data; collaborate with Operations and Engineering to optimize

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in Power Plant, Utility, Boiler, Turbine, or Industrial Maintenance.
  • Experience in Palm Oil Refinery, Oleochemical, Power Plant, Pulp & Paper, Petrochemical preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical utility equipment including boilers, steam turbine systems, DM Water Plant, WWTP, cooling tower, and piping systems.
  • Willing to be based in Dumai (annual leave 12 working days).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate mechanical maintenance activities for Utility / Power Plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
  • Lead maintenance technicians in performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, breakdown repairs, and equipment overhauls.
  • Monitor and maintain critical utility equipment, including boilers, boiler auxiliaries, steam turbines, pumps, cooling towers, condensate recovery systems, desalination systems, DM Water Plant, WWTP, and related piping systems.
  • Support the planning, scheduling, and execution of preventive maintenance based on equipment condition, OEM recommendations, and operational priorities.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of equipment history, PM records, vibration reports, spare parts status, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Shift Supervisors, Engineering, and Superintendent teams to resolve mechanical issues and support plant performance.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company standards, safety procedures, environmental regulations, and quality requirements.

Job description

Requirements
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in Power Plant, Utility, Boiler, Turbine, or Industrial Maintenance
  • Experience in industries such as Palm Oil Refinery, Oleochemical, Power Plant, Pulp & Paper, Petrochemical is preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical utility equipment, including: Boiler and boiler auxiliaries, Steam turbine systems, Coal Handling Plant and Ash Handling Plant, DM Water Plant, WWTP, cooling tower, desalination plant, Boiler feed pumps, seawater pumps, fire hydrant pumps, and piping systems
  • Good understanding of preventive maintenance planning, condition monitoring, vibration analysis, breakdown analysis, and reliability improvement
  • Familiar with spare parts management, equipment master data, maintenance history, and technical documentation
  • Willing to be based in Dumai (regular cycle, annual leave = 12 working days)
