Job summary

APRIL is seeking an Electrical Technician to perform maintenance and troubleshooting in the Power Plant area, including Recovery Boiler and Evaporator facilities. You will read electrical drawings, service generators and switchgear, coordinate with operations, and support shutdowns while adhering to LOTO and permit-to-work procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as Electrical Technician in Power Plant, Recovery Boiler, Evaporator, Pulp & Paper, Petrochemical, or other heavy industries.
• Strong experience handling electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchgear, MCC, motors, VFD/drives, and electrical distribution systems.
• Familiar with electrical maintenance practices in Power Plant and utility areas.
• Able to read electrical drawings, single line diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Knowledge of motor control systems, protection relay, and basic instrumentation is preferred.
• Familiar with preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures including LOTO and electrical isolation practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Willing to work in shift schedule and support shutdown activities when required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance for electrical equipment in the Power Plant, Recovery Boiler, and Evaporator areas.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues related to motors, switchgear, transformers, MCC, generators, drives, and electrical distribution systems.
• Carry out inspection, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems to ensure equipment reliability and operational continuity.
• Support maintenance activities during shutdown, turnaround, and emergency situations.
• Monitor equipment condition and identify potential electrical abnormalities or failures.
• Perform cable installation, termination, insulation resistance checking, and electrical panel maintenance.
• Conduct functional testing and verification after maintenance activities are completed.
• Coordinate with operation and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance.
• Ensure all electrical maintenance activities comply with company safety regulations, lock out/tag out (LOTO), and permit-to-work systems.
• Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and equipment history properly.
• Participate in troubleshooting analysis, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain good housekeeping and safe working conditions in all work areas.
