Job summary

Star Energy Geothermal in Indonesia seeks a Lead Drilling Engineer to lead design, planning, and real-time monitoring of geothermal drilling projects. You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contractors to ensure safety and efficiency across all phases.

The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering, 10+ years of drilling experience, and IWCF/IADC certification. On-site leadership, strong communication, and proficiency with drilling software are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
• 10+ years drilling operations experience (field and/or engineering).
• Strong drilling principles, equipment, and geothermal well operations.
• IWCF or IADC Well Control Certification.
• Ability to work in high-pressure, remote environments.
• Analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership.
• Familiarity with Landmark, WellView, EDM software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of drilling operations per approved programs and safety standards.
• Develop and review well designs, drilling programs, and contracting strategies.
• Monitor drilling parameters in real-time and troubleshoot on rig sites.
• Coordinate and supervise service contractors (mud logging, cementing, directional drilling).
• Prepare and review DDRs, cost tracking, and end-of-well summaries.
• Analyze drilling performance and propose NPT reductions.
• Conduct risk assessments, toolbox talks, and on-site safety meetings.
• Support equipment selection, logistics, and well control procedures.
• Document operational learnings and incident reports for improvement.
