Job summary

Aramex Indonesia seeks a Freight Operations Manager to lead the freight product and operations across air, sea and land. You will ensure on-time shipments, competitive pricing, and compliance, while guiding the operations team and coordinating with Commercial, Customer Service, Finance, and regional networks.

You will negotiate rates, manage carrier SLAs, and support tenders and special projects, reporting to the Country Manager and aligning with business goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in logistics or related field.
• 7+ years in freight forwarding with 3+ years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of air freight; other modes a plus.
• Experience procuring rates and supporting tenders.
• Familiarity with Indonesian customs procedures.
• Proficient in MS Office; fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
• PPJK, DGR or Six Sigma is an advantage.

Role Description.

As Freight Operations Manager, you will lead Aramex Indonesia's freight product and freight operations, covering air, sea and land. You will make sure every shipment moves on time, at the right cost and in line with compliance standards, while giving our commercial team competitive rates and practical solutions to win and keep customers. You will lead the freight operations team, procure rates from carriers and agents, and act as the main point of contact for key customers on freight matters. You will report directly to the Country Manager and work closely with Commercial, Customer Service, Finance and the regional freight network.

Key Responsibilities

Freight operations

• Oversee daily air, sea and land freight operations in Indonesia, from booking to final delivery, including special and project shipments.
• Set and monitor operational KPIs and SLAs (on-time performance, shipment accuracy, cost per shipment) and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with customs, IATA, dangerous goods and international shipping regulations, working closely with the customs clearance team.
• Investigate service failures and customer complaints, and lead corrective and preventive actions.

Rates, pricing and carrier management

• Negotiate competitive rates with airlines, shipping lines, trucking vendors and overseas agents.
• Maintain and share updated sales and pricing lists with the commercial team, and make sure they are followed.
• Provide rates for tenders and support the commercial team in tailoring customer offers and special discount rates.
• Approve Amendment Request Notices (ARNs) and manage carrier and vendor SLAs.

Customer and commercial support

• Act as the main point of contact for key customers on freight inquiries and operational issues.
• Visit customers with the commercial team and offer solutions for special projects.
• Support the sales team in winning new freight business, and take part in exhibitions and campaigns.
• Provide the Country Manager and commercial team with market intelligence: competitors, upcoming projects, product statistics and profitability.

People and performance

• Lead, coach and develop the freight operations team; identify high potential employees and propose career development plans.
• Train the commercial team and new hires on freight products so they can sell them effectively.
• Manage the freight budget, control costs and achieve the freight product's revenue and profit targets.
• Report freight performance to the Country Manager monthly and at the regional Monthly Business Review.
• Adhere to company HSSE, compliance and sustainability policies and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, International Business or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in freight forwarding, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role leading an operations team.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of air freight; sea and land freight experience is a strong plus.
• Proven experience procuring rates from airlines, shipping lines and agents, and supporting pricing or tenders.
• Good understanding of Indonesian customs procedures and export-import documentation.
• Experience handling key corporate customers and resolving operational escalations.
• Familiarity with CargoWise is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia, written and spoken.
• PPJK, DGR or Six Sigma certification is an advantage.
