Job summary

PT Mad Monkey Hostels Indonesia is seeking an Engineering Staff/Technician to maintain hostel facilities, equipment, and utilities. You will handle preventive maintenance, repairs, and safety compliance across guest spaces, public areas, and staff facilities.

You will monitor electrical and water systems, assist with renovations, and coordinate with various teams to ensure guest comfort and safe operations. An eye for detail and strong troubleshooting are essential.

Qualifications

• High school or vocational education in engineering preferred.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and maintenance systems.
• Ability to use common maintenance tools and equipment.

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Inspect guest rooms, dormitories, bathrooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities daily.
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning, water systems, pumps, and other equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.
• Respond to maintenance requests from guests and departments in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and service logs.
• Coordinate with Housekeeping, Front Office, Bar, and Kitchen teams regarding maintenance needs.
• Assist during hostel events or operational activities requiring technical support.
• Support renovation projects, painting, carpentry, and minor construction work as needed.

ENGINEERING STAFF / ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

Position Summary

The Engineering Staff is responsible for maintaining the hostel’s facilities, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure to ensure a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for guests and team members. The role includes preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and supporting operational needs across guest rooms, public areas, food & beverage outlets, and staff facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repairs

Perform daily inspections of guest rooms, dormitories, bathrooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.

Carry out preventive maintenance on electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning, water systems, pumps, and other equipment.

Troubleshoot and repair maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.

Respond to maintenance requests from guests and departments in a timely manner.

Ensure all repairs meet safety and operational standards.

Electrical & Mechanical Systems

Monitor electrical systems, lighting, circuit breakers, generators, and related equipment.

Assist with maintenance of water pumps, filtration systems, and mechanical equipment.

Report major technical issues requiring external contractors or specialist support.

Maintain accurate maintenance records and service logs.

Plumbing & Water Systems

Repair leaks, blocked drains, toilets, faucets, showers, and water supply issues.

Monitor water pressure and water storage systems.

Support water conservation initiatives and efficient utility usage.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Follow workplace safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment.

Ensure compliance with local safety, fire, and environmental regulations.

Inspect emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, alarms, and emergency lighting.

Report hazards, accidents, and safety concerns immediately.

Facility Standards

Maintain hostel facilities in good working condition and presentable appearance.

Assist with room readiness and operational setup when required.

Support renovation projects, painting, carpentry, and minor construction work as needed.

Ensure tools, equipment, and maintenance areas remain organized and secure.

Team Support

Coordinate with Housekeeping, Front Office, Bar, and Kitchen teams regarding maintenance needs.

Assist during hostel events or operational activities requiring technical support.

Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and emergency drills.

Qualifications

Minimum high school or vocational school education (Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field preferred).

Previous experience in hotel, hostel, resort, or building maintenance is an advantage.

Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general maintenance systems.

Ability to use common maintenance tools and equipment.

Basic English communication skills are preferred.
