Job summary

Flex seeks an Engineering Backend Process Engineer in Batam to support SpinCo, focusing on end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications. You will manage backend processes from laser marking to packing, ensuring efficient, high-quality manufacturing.

The role requires hands-on experience with backend assembly, a strong Lean/Six-Sigma mindset, and excellent English communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Electronics or relevant.
• Experience in engineering/manufacturing in electronics industry preferred.
• Familiar with Backend Assembly processes and equipment.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six-Sigma methodologies.
• Fluent in English (oral and written).
• TPI experience with risk awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily engineering support to volume production and TPI product.
• Familiar with laser marking, De-pannel, Labelling, Assembly, packing and automatic processes.
• Set parameters for backend processes and maintain process control.
• Define routine process control for backend steps.
• Introduce modern manufacturing technology to improve production agility for power modules.
• Set up new backend equipment and verify new production lines; drive productivity improvements.
• Monitor DPPM and drive continuous improvement.
• Improve OEE to increase output.
• Provide rapid problem analysis support to production for efficient manufacturing.
• Lead test runs in TPI projects; prepare fixtures, programs, and producibility reports.
• Provide constructive feedback on design issues or risks from test runs or volume production; implement changes.
• Participate in Quality Improvement activities for backend processes; improve yield and efficiency.
• Create and update working instructions for process consistency.
• Train staff to build multi-skill pool resources.
• Prepare documentation (FMEA, Control Plans, qualification reports, RCCA, improvements).
• Create and maintain programs for Labelling, laser marking, routing, assembly, packing.
• Monitor line utilization and drive capacity improvements.
• Maintain process data with IS team for analysis and quality recording.
• Provide automation solutions and supplier communication capabilities.

Job description

Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we’re calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission‑critical applications.

About the role

The Engineering Backend Process Engineer will be based in Batam and will support SpinCo, which focuses on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission‑critical applications. The role provides daily engineering support to volume production and TPI product, managing all backend processes including laser marking, de‑pannel, labelling, assembly, packing, and automatic processes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daily engineering support to volume production and TPI product.
• Familiar with laser marking process, De‑pannel process, Labling process, Assy process, packing process and automatic process, etc.
• All process parameters setting throughout whole backend processes.
• Define and routine process control of backend Process steps.
• Continuously track and introduce modern technology, manufacturing concept to achieve an effective, agile overall process production for power module
• Set up new backend equipment base on business requirements. Setup, verify new production lines as well as improve productivity.
• Monitor DPPM in production and drive continuously improvement.
• Drive improvement of OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) for increasing of output continuously.
• Provide professional and agile support to production for problems analysis to achieve an efficient manufacturing.
• Be responsible for Test runs in TPI projects, provide fixtures, prepare all programs, optimize overall process and make final producibility report.
• Feedback Lead site with the constructive proposals of any design issues or potential risk from Test runs or volume production, drive and implement change, continuously track, improve volume production and TPI quality and performance.
• Be member of Quality Improvement activities related to Backend processes, to improve quality yield and efficiency.
• Create working instructions to guild and standard operations in whole processes.
• Provide staff training to fulfill the working instructions, and help manufacturing lines to build up multi‑skill pool resources.
• Prepare/ involve in documentations and reports such as FMEA, Control Plan, machine and process qualification report etc, RCCA, Improvement report etc.
• Create and maintain all programs including: Labelling, laser marking, router, assembly, packing, etc.
• Continuously monitoring the utilization of lines and improve it, increase production capacity.
• Maintain process related data together with IS engineer for analysis, improvement and quality recording purpose.
• Provide automation solutions and capability of communication with suppliers

About you

• Bachelor degree or above in the area of Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Electronics or relevant.
• Experienced and showing a proven track record in Engineering, Manufacturing in Electronics industry.
• Be familiar with Backend Assembly processes and equipment.
• Good knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six‑sigma
• Good Power Module knowledge, products and processes is a plus.
• Fluent in English, oral and written.
• Good communications, interpersonal, and influencing skills skills and leadership.
