PT Flextronics Technology Indonesia seeks a Backend Equipment Engineer in Batam to maintain and troubleshoot production equipment, ensuring high uptime and stable product quality for cost-effective manufacturing operations.
The role covers preventive maintenance, equipment commissioning, and supporting NPI and production transfers, with a focus on reducing costs and improving reliability across electrical and mechanical systems.
Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we’re calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.
The Backend Equipment Engineer will be based in Batam and will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and continuously improving production equipment and instruments to ensure optimal performance, maximum equipment utilization, stable product quality, and cost-effective manufacturing operations.
Key responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime. The equipment includes glue dispensing machines, baking ovens, tape-and-reel packaging machines, pin insertion machines, routers, and laser marking machines.
Troubleshoot and resolve equipment, machine, and instrument failures in a timely manner.
Develop and maintain machine maintenance plans and schedules.
Conduct machine setup and support equipment commissioning activities.
Support new product introduction (NPI), industrialization, and production transfer projects.
Analyze equipment, quality, or production issues and implement corrective actions.
Ensure equipment performance consistently meets quality and production requirements.
Verify equipment capability and process readiness prior to customer acceptance when applicable.
Improve equipment efficiency, productivity, reliability and safety.
Drive cost reduction through maintenance optimization.
About you
Bachelor's degree or above in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
At least 3 years' experience in equipment maintenance, production engineering, or manufacturing operations, preferably in the electronics manufacturing industry.
Solid knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
Familiarity with production equipment, test instruments, fixtures, and electronics manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance methodologies and troubleshooting techniques.
Basic understanding of statistical analysis and continuous improvement tools.
Good computer and IT skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Good communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Strong sense of responsibility and continuous improvement mindset.
