Job summary

BYD invites applications for a Data Center Technician role to monitor and maintain critical infrastructure within the facility. You will oversee server hardware, network devices, power systems, cooling, and cabling across shifts while ensuring accurate documentation and handovers.

The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in a computer- or electrical-related field with 2+ years in a similar role, strong communication, and the ability to work in a 24/7 environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or above in computer/electrical fields with 2+ years in the same industry.
• Familiar with basic X86 server architecture; experience in hardware testing & maintenance.
• Familiar with network devices and common protocols.
• Knowledge of data center power, UPS, grounding, cooling, cabling and safety systems.
• Experience in data center construction or operation of large IDC data centers preferred.
• Proficient in CAD; able to use Word, Excel, PPT for documentation.
• Strong communication, responsibility, ability to handle pressure and work in 24/7 shifts.
• Willingness to adapt to fast-paced data center environments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor data center facilities, systems, and equipment during assigned shifts.
• Perform routine inspections of data center areas, racks, cabling, power, cooling, and infrastructure.
• Monitor alarms and respond to abnormalities or incidents.
• Do first-level troubleshooting and coordinate with teams/vendors.
• Support installation, relocation, and decommissioning of IT equipment and cable management.
• Perform cable installation, routing, labeling, and management between racks.
• Maintain records of equipment status, incidents, and handovers.
• Conduct regular shift handovers and communicate outstanding issues.
• Support emergency response and escalation procedures.
• Participate in continuous improvement for operational efficiency.
