Qualifications

• Valid Indonesian customs broker license or certification is required.
• Minimum 3 years in customs brokerage, import/export operations, or related compliance roles.
• Deep knowledge of Indonesian customs regulations, HS codes, and international trade procedures.
• Proficiency with customs management software and EDI.
• Strong documentation, organization, and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication in Indonesian and English.

Responsibilities

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Customs Brokerage professional to join PT AWOT Global Logistics Indonesia in Batam Kota, Riau Islands. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth clearance of goods through customs processes. As a Customs Brokerage specialist, you will be responsible for facilitating import and export documentation, managing regulatory compliance, and liaising between our clients, shipping partners, and customs authorities. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for reliable and efficient logistics services in the region.

Key responsibilities

Prepare and submit customs documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin for import and export shipments

Calculate and arrange payment of customs duties, taxes, and other applicable fees on behalf of clients

Liaise with customs officials and regulatory authorities to facilitate the clearance of goods and resolve any compliance issues

Monitor and track shipments through the customs clearance process to ensure timely release

Review shipping documents for accuracy and completeness before submission to customs authorities

Maintain detailed records of all customs transactions, declarations, and communications

Advise clients on tariff classifications, import/export regulations, and potential compliance risks

Coordinate with freight forwarders, transport providers, and warehouse facilities to ensure efficient cargo movement

Handle any queries or discrepancies raised by customs officials and implement corrective actions

Stay updated on changes to customs regulations, trade agreements, and import/export procedures

What we’re looking for

A valid customs broker license or certification in Indonesia, or demonstrated eligibility to obtain one

Minimum 3 years of experience in customs brokerage, import/export operations, or related customs compliance roles

In-depth knowledge of Indonesian customs regulations, Harmonised Tariff System (HS) codes, and international trade procedures

Proficiency with customs management software and electronic data interchange (EDI) systems

Strong understanding of documentation requirements and international shipping practices

Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple shipments simultaneously

Strong communication and negotiation abilities in both Indonesian and English

Attention to detail and accuracy in preparing and reviewing documentation

Knowledge of ASEAN trade regulations and regional customs procedures would be advantageous

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management systems
