SCHOTT in Batam is seeking a Customer Account Quality Engineer to coordinate between customers and internal teams on quality, product qualification, and engineering changes. The role focuses on maintaining strong customer relationships, ensuring timely documentation, and leading investigations using 8D methods.
Ideal candidates have a materials/engineering background, 2–5 years of related experience, and strong knowledge of PPAP, APQP, and statistical tools.
The Customer Account Quality Engineer serves as the primary coordination point between assigned customers and internal functions for quality, product qualification, and engineering change matters. This role encompasses customer quality management, product and process quality support, and new product introduction and engineering change management.
Serve as the primary coordination point between assigned customers and internal functions for quality, product qualification, and engineering change matters
Understand, document, communicate, and coordinate the implementation of customer requirements and customer-specific requirements
Coordinate customer deliverables and ensure agreed actions, reports, samples, and documentation are completed accurately and on time
Maintain clear records of customer requirements, open actions, approvals, commitments, and quality-related correspondence
Coordinate customer audits, surveys, questionnaires, scorecards, technical requests, and quality performance reviews
Lead customer complaint investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and root cause analysis
Monitor product quality, process stability, process capability, and relevant quality trends throughout the manufacturing process
Serve as the quality lead for new product introductions, product transfers, and engineering change activities
Conduct risk assessments for new products, process changes, material changes, supplier changes, and engineering changes
Prepare, review, and maintain PPAP documentation and other qualification records
Bachelor's degree in Materials, Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline
2–5 years of relevant experience in customer quality, customer account support, new product introduction, engineering change management, or manufacturing quality
Practical experience in customer complaint management, PPAP, 8D problem solving, root cause analysis, and customer-specific requirements
Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, IATF 16949, Minitab or equivalent statistical analysis tools, and SEM/EDX failure analysis is preferred
