Job summary

SCHOTT is seeking a proactive IT Engineer to manage, maintain, and support our IT infrastructure in Batam. The role covers hardware/software installation, system monitoring, and providing user support to ensure reliable operations.

You will handle security, backups, and disaster recovery, while collaborating with global teams to align IT standards and practices. A strong Unix/Linux and Windows background is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field.
• 2-5 years of IT support, system admin, or network engineering experience.
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Experience with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, LAN/WAN.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing hardware and software, troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring network security, and providing technical support to users.

Key responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, networks, and peripherals

Monitor and maintain IT systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability

Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues

Provide technical support to employees through phone, email, or onsite assistance

Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls

Perform system upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery procedures

Ensure the security of IT systems by implementing security policies, antivirus solutions, and software updates

Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues

Maintain documentation of IT systems, configurations, and procedures

Coordinate with vendors for hardware procurement, software licensing, and technical support

About you

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field

2-5 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or network engineering

Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems

Experience with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, LAN/WAN)

Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, virtualization, and cloud platforms

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Experience in maintaining and preparing technical documentation and work procedures

Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
