GREEN ROSE HOTEL in Batam Kota, Riau Islands is seeking a dedicated Cook Helper to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. You will work alongside chefs to maintain basic food preparation, hygiene, and service standards, contributing to guest satisfaction and smooth kitchen operations.

Requirements include a high school diploma (preferred) and flexibility to work shifts. Prior kitchen experience is a plus, and candidates should be able to communicate in English or Indonesian.

Qualifications

• Experience as Cook Helper, Kitchen Assistant, or similar role preferred.
• Basic understanding of food preparation and hygiene.
• Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cut ingredients like vegetables, meat, and fish as directed.
• Assist in cooking and plating under head chef or senior cooks.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and equipment.
• Receive and store deliveries with proper temperature control.
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
• Support mise en place and kitchen readiness for service.
• Operate ovens, grills, fryers, and other appliances safely.
• Assist with plating and garnishing for presentation standards.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages to management.
• Adapt to changing priorities during service and assist senior staff.

About the role

GREEN ROSE HOTEL is seeking a dedicated Cook Helper to join our dynamic kitchen team on a full-time basis. Based in Batam Kota, Riau Islands, this role is essential to ensuring smooth kitchen operations and supporting our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests. As a Cook Helper, you will work alongside experienced chefs and cooks to maintain the highest standards of food preparation, hygiene, and service. This position is fundamental to the day-to-day functioning of our kitchen and contributes directly to guest satisfaction and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

Preparing and cutting ingredients including vegetables, meat, and fish according to chef specifications and recipes

Assisting in the cooking and plating of dishes under supervision of the head chef or experienced cooks

Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen workspace, including washing and sanitising utensils, pots, pans, and equipment

Receiving and storing food deliveries in appropriate storage areas, ensuring proper temperature control and stock rotation

Following food safety and hygiene standards at all times, including proper handling of raw and cooked foods

Supporting mise en place preparation to ensure kitchen readiness for service

Operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, and other cooking appliances safely and effectively

Assisting with plating and garnishing dishes to presentation standards

Helping to maintain kitchen stock levels and reporting shortages to management

Responding to requests from senior kitchen staff and adapting to changing priorities during service

What we're looking for

High school diploma or equivalent qualification (preferred)

Previous experience as a Cook Helper, Kitchen Assistant, or similar role in a hotel, restaurant, or food service establishment (preferred but not essential)

Strong understanding of basic food preparation techniques and kitchen safety protocols

Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards

Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions from senior kitchen staff

Reliability and punctuality in attendance and task completion

Communication skills in English or Indonesian (or both) to facilitate teamwork

Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills under mentorship from experienced chefs

Flexibility to work shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekend service times
