Job summary

Poppy's Kitchen and Bar in North Kuta, Bali is seeking an experienced Barperson to join our busy team in a full-time role. You will deliver exceptional service at the heart of our hospitality operation, crafting beverages and engaging guests.

You will manage a wide range of cocktails, maintain bar hygiene, handle payments, and collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service while adhering to health and licensing regulations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Barperson or similar in a busy venue.
• Strong knowledge of spirits, mixology and cocktails.
• Excellent customer service and guest engagement.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with bar equipment, cash registers, and POS systems.
• Commitment to responsible beverage service.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Balinese culture awareness is advantageous.

About the role

Poppy's Kitchen and Bar is seeking an experienced and energetic Barperson to join our dynamic team in North Kuta, Bali. This is a full-time position where you will be at the heart of our hospitality operation, delivering exceptional service and creating memorable experiences for our guests. As a key member of our bar team, you will play a vital role in maintaining our reputation for excellence and ensuring every customer interaction reflects our commitment to quality and hospitality.

What you’ll be doing

• Preparing and serving a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to our guests with precision and flair
• Taking drink orders efficiently and accurately, whilst providing recommendations based on guest preferences and our menu offerings
• Mixing cocktails and drinks according to established recipes and our signature creations
• Maintaining an organised, clean and sanitised bar environment, including proper stock rotation and inventory management
• Processing payments and managing the cash register with accuracy and accountability
• Building rapport with guests and ensuring an engaging, welcoming atmosphere at the bar
• Restocking bar supplies, glasses, garnishes and other essential items throughout your shift
• Collaborating with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
• Adhering to all health, safety and licensing regulations relevant to beverage service
• Responding promptly to guest requests and handling any service issues with professionalism

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience working as a Barperson or in a similar bar or hospitality role within a busy venue
• Strong knowledge of spirit brands, mixology techniques, and classic and contemporary cocktail recipes
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage guests and create a positive atmosphere
• Fast-paced working ability with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in operating bar equipment, cash registers and point-of-sale systems
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure
• Understanding of responsible beverage service and commitment to preventing underage drinking
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
• Relevant qualifications or certifications in responsible beverage service or hospitality (preferred)
• Knowledge of Balinese culture and ability to provide culturally sensitive service to diverse guests (advantageous)
