Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) is seeking an IT Facilities Assistant to install, operate and maintain IT and AV systems, support staff and students, and assist in IT facility setups for Institute events. The role is based mainly at the Chai Wan Campus and requires teamwork across departments.
The candidate should hold a Diploma or Higher Certificate in a relevant discipline, have at least 2 years of experience, and be proficient with common software (Microsoft
(a) To be responsible for the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of computers, AV, lighting, and other related equipment;
(b) To assist in setting up IT facilities and services for the Institute's events
(c) To provide IT technical support to staff and students;
(d) To coordinate the procurement of consumables and equipment
(e) To maintain store records and assist in inventory control;
(f) To assist supervisors in generating operational reports and other documentation;
(g) To assist in network and server administration; and
(h) To perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegate(s).
Requirements:
(a) A recognised Diploma or Higher Certificate in a relevant discipline;
(b) At least 2 years of relevant work experience;
(c) Proficiency in commonly used computer / educational software (e.g., Microsoft and Adobe applications) and their applications;
(d) Good knowledge of the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of AV equipment, computer hardware, and networking;
(e) Priority will be accorded to applicants who possess the following qualifications:
(1) Demonstrated experience with Windows & Linux servers, and/or proficiency in using an online helpdesk system for end user support;
(2) Extensive experience in the preparation of software images and the cloning of operating systems and software for computer laboratories and classrooms;
(3) Relevant work experience within an educational institution;
(f) Good communication and interpersonal skills;
(g) Willingness to learn the new and emerging IT technologies; and
(h) Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Notes:
(1) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different locations and work irregular hours, shifts, and on weekends as necessary.
(2) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with the appointee's qualifications and experience.
(3) The appointee will mainly work at the Chai Wan Campus.
