Job summary

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) seeks a Project Officer to provide daily IT and AV support in classrooms and labs, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

You will install, operate, and troubleshoot interactive displays, projectors, microphones, audio systems, and conferencing equipment for on-site and hybrid teaching.

Proven IT support experience is required, with Windows and Mac familiarity, plus basic networking and knowledge of Teams, Zoom, and live streaming.

Qualifications

  • Higher Diploma or above in IT, CS, multimedia, or related field.
  • At least 1 year of IT/AV support experience; fresh graduates considered.
  • Hands-on Windows and Mac computer support.
  • Experience supporting interactive displays, projectors, mics, audio systems.
  • Basic networking knowledge, wired and wireless troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Teams, Zoom and similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with live streaming and broadcasting for online events.
  • Ability to respond promptly to classroom/lab support during teaching.
  • Willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Good troubleshooting and independent working skills.
  • Experience in tertiary education is a plus.

Job description

Reporting to the Enterprise Systems Architect, the Project Officer is responsible for providing daily operational support for IT and audio-visual (AV) facilities in classrooms and laboratories during assigned evening, weekend, and public holiday shifts. The incumbent will set up, maintain, and troubleshoot interactive TVs, microphones, audio systems, computers, projectors, and other teaching-related equipment to ensure smooth classroom operations. They will provide first-line technical support to academic staff, students, and administrative users by responding to and resolving enquiries, incidents, and service requests in a timely manner. The role also involves conducting regular equipment inspections and preventive maintenance in classrooms and laboratories, as well as supporting both Windows and Mac environments, including software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. In addition, the position assists with the setup and operation of IT and AV equipment for online meetings, webinars, hybrid events, video conferences, and virtual conferences, while providing on-site technical support for lectures, seminars, examinations, events, and special activities. The incumbent will also support live streaming and broadcasting platforms through system setup, operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting, and perform other IT administrative and support duties as assigned by the supervisors.

Requirements:
  • (a) A Higher Diploma or above in Information Technology, Computer Science, Multimedia Technology, Audio Visual Technology, or related disciplines.
  • (b) At least one year of relevant experience in IT support, Audio Visual support or technical services (Fresh graduates with strong technical knowledge may also be considered).
  • (c) Hands-on experience supporting Windows and Mac computers.
  • (d) Experience in supporting Audio Visual equipment, such as interactive displays, projectors, microphones, audio systems, video conferencing equipment and related peripherals.
  • (e) Basic knowledge of networking, including wired and wireless connectivity troubleshooting.
  • (f) Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Teams, Zoom and other online meeting platforms for video conferencing and virtual event support.
  • (g) Familiarity with live streaming and broadcasting platforms, including setup, operation, and technical support for online events and live productions.
  • (h) Ability to respond promptly to classroom and laboratory support requests during teaching sessions.
  • (i) Required to work on an evening, weekend and holiday schedule.
  • (j) Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • (k) Experience in the tertiary education sector or similar institutional environments is an advantage.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

Appointment will be on a two-year renewable contract, subject to performance and mutual agreement. A gratuity payment may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract. Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. The starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
