Technical Delivery Lead – Digital & Operations Platforms / Insurance

Organisation: Regional insurance business

The opportunity

A regional insurance business is looking to appoint a Technical Delivery Lead to drive the technical delivery of digital platforms and operations systems supporting its transformation agenda.

The role combines technical solutioning, architecture and engineering delivery. Working closely with digital leadership, technology teams and business stakeholders, you will translate operational needs into practical technical solutions and lead their delivery through to implementation.

The scope covers internal applications and customer-facing platforms, with an emphasis on core insurance operations rather than AI-specific initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Own technical delivery across assigned digital and operations platform initiatives, from requirements and solution design through development, integration and release.

• Translate business objectives and operational workflows into clear technical requirements, solution designs and actionable engineering backlogs.

• Shape solutions that align with enterprise architecture principles, existing platforms and the wider transformation roadmap.

• Work closely with architects and engineering teams to assess design options, resolve technical issues and manage dependencies.

• Challenge requirements and proposed solutions to ensure they are feasible, maintainable and appropriate for the business need.

• Guide delivery across internal teams and technology partners, maintaining accountability for technical quality and implementation outcomes.

• Ensure solutions address integration, data, security, resilience and operational support requirements.

• Communicate technical trade-offs, risks and delivery implications clearly to business and technology stakeholders.

• Support testing, release readiness and transition into ongoing operations.

Experience and capabilities

• 12+ years of relevant technology experience, with a strong grounding in software engineering, solution architecture or technical systems delivery.

• Experience delivering insurance operations platforms, particularly underwriting and/or claims systems.

• Demonstrated ownership of complex technical initiatives from solution definition through production implementation.

• Strong solution architecture capability and the ability to work within enterprise architecture standards and roadmaps.

• Strong technical business analysis and/or technical product ownership skills, including translating business processes into system requirements.

• Ability to engage engineers in detailed discussions about application design, integrations, data flows and implementation trade-offs.

• Experience coordinating delivery across business stakeholders, technology teams and external partners.

• Clear communication skills and the confidence to challenge constructively while maintaining delivery momentum.

Desirable experience

• Regional or multi-market insurance transformation programmes.

• Modernisation of existing operations systems and integration with digital platforms.

• Delivery across both internal operational applications and customer-facing channels.
