Job summary

Argyll Scott is partnering with an international insurer to recruit a senior Solution Architect for regional transformation initiatives in Hong Kong. You will lead architecture across digital platforms, cloud-native apps and AI-enabled solutions, translating business priorities into technology roadmaps.

You will own the lifecycle from concept through delivery, collaborate with business leaders and tech teams, and ensure security, compliance and scalable execution across markets in Asia.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of IT experience, including 7+ years within insurance.
• Experience designing cloud-native, microservices-based and API-driven solutions.
• Hands-on AWS architecture and delivery experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of insurance processes, governance, risk and privacy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead solution architecture across regional projects and programmes.
• Define target-state architectures and roadmaps for scalable solutions.
• Design and govern AWS architectures including AI platforms.
• Establish architecture standards across cloud, APIs and data.
• Evaluate insurance technologies covering underwriting, claims, CRM and payments.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and delivery teams on design reviews and integration patterns.
• Present architecture proposals and roadmaps to senior stakeholders.
• Ensure solutions meet security, risk, regulatory and data privacy requirements.
• Identify architectural risks and guide cross-functional teams.

Solution Architect – Insurance Transformation

Location: Hong Kong | Hybrid working

We are partnering with an international insurer to recruit an experienced Solution Architect to lead architecture across regional transformation programmes. This role combines insurance domain expertise with modern cloud, digital and AI architecture, working closely with business leaders and technology teams across Asia.

You will own the solution architecture lifecycle from initial concept through delivery, shaping scalable solutions and translating business priorities into technology roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead solution architecture across regional projects and programmes, covering digital platforms, cloud-native applications, AI/ML, Generative AI and data-driven solutions.
• Define target-state architectures and roadmaps, ensuring scalability, sustainability and integration with existing applications.
• Design and govern AWS architectures, including containerised, serverless and event-driven services, alongside machine learning and Generative AI platforms.
• Establish architecture standards across cloud, microservices, APIs, integration and data.
• Evaluate insurance technologies supporting new business, underwriting, claims, document management, CRM, workflow, payments and point-of-sale.
• Partner with Product Owners, technical leads and delivery teams on design reviews, integration patterns and resolution of technical blockers.
• Present architecture proposals and transformation roadmaps to senior stakeholders, communicating business value and delivery implications.
• Ensure solutions meet enterprise security, technology risk, data privacy and regional regulatory requirements.
• Identify architectural risks early and guide cross-functional teams through complex technical challenges.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
• 15+ years of IT experience, including at least 7 years within insurance.
• Strong experience designing cloud-native, microservices-based and API-driven solutions.
• Practical experience applying AI/ML, Generative AI and modern data technologies.
• Hands-on AWS architecture and delivery experience preferred, including services such as EKS, Lambda, Step Functions, SageMaker and Bedrock.
• Strong understanding of insurance processes, architecture patterns and digital transformation.
• Proven experience supporting regional transformation programmes using Agile and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of architecture governance, design review processes, IT risk, security and data privacy requirements, including PDPA.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience influencing senior executives and collaborating across markets.
• Ability to work independently, resolve complex problems and proactively manage architectural risks.
• Asia regional experience is advantageous.

Working Arrangements

• Hybrid working model based in Hong Kong.
• Regular collaboration with regional stakeholders, with flexibility for occasional meetings across international time zones.
• Regional travel approximately once per quarter.
