Job summary

Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong is seeking an experienced software engineer to deliver features for Stock loan trading, lifecycle management and platform renovation. You will combine hands-on development with analysis of business workflows, taking ownership of work from requirements clarification through testing and production release.

This is an experienced individual‑contributor role; you will work with independent judgement within agreed designs and priorities, with technical leads helping

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong server-side programming skills in Java or Scala with an understanding of software design and data structures.
• Practical SQL and relational database skills; comfortable with Unix/Linux and service interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of assigned features and components; plan implementation steps and deliver tested, maintainable software against requirements.
• Analyse requirements and data with business analysts, product partners, and engineers; clarify workflow details with Trading and Operations users.
• Develop server-side services and integrations supporting trade capture, inventory updates, returns, recalls or other lifecycle functions.
• Contribute to platform renovation by implementing new components and validating behaviour against existing systems.
• Write automated tests, perform code reviews and use data checks to verify correctness including exceptions and failure scenarios.
• Support controlled releases and production troubleshooting; investigate root causes and implement fixes with guidance for high-risk changes.
• Keep teammates informed through progress updates, technical summaries and documentation; share knowledge with less-experienced colleagues.
