Job summary

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is seeking a high-caliber professional to join the Building Services (Operation & Maintenance) Team - Electrical Division. The appointee will provide administrative and technical support for operation and maintenance of the University’s electrical installations, ensuring safety, reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities include supervising staff and contractors, designing tender documents, coordinating hand-overs, liaising with campus users

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in electrical engineering, building services engineering or related disciplines with at least 5 years of relevant work experience, 3 years at supervisory level and registered electrical worker.
• Good command of both spoken and written Chinese (including Putonghua) and English; familiarity with AutoCAD is essential.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor both in-house staff and service contractors.
• Design and prepare tender documents, purchasing orders including specifications and drawings.
• Arrange and attend hand-over inspections of new and renovation projects, and prepare defect lists.
• Liaise and coordinate with campus users, internal departments and service contractors on planned maintenance, daily operation, replacement, improvement and upgrading works.
• Hands-on work on various electrical services installations;
• Perform overnight shift duty and attend emergency duties.

Job description

The University is now looking for a high caliber professional to join our Building Services (Operation & Maintenance) Team - Electrical Division.

The appointee will provide administrative and technical support on operation and maintenance of the University's electrical installations, including LV electrical main and sub-main systems, lifts and escalators, ELV systems, generators, UPS, lighting and power, dimmer systems, solar PV systems, power meters, EV chargers and related energy-services installations etc. to ensure they are operated and maintained in a safe, reliable and efficient manner.

The appointee will be responsible for the following duties:

• Supervise and monitor both in-house staff and service contractors;
• Design and prepare tender documents, purchasing orders including specifications and drawings;
• Arrange and attend hand-over inspection of new and renovation projects, and prepare defect lists;
• Liaise and coordinate with campus users, internal departments and services contractors on the planned maintenance, daily operation, replacement, improvement and upgrading works of electrical services installations;
• Hands-on work on various electrical services installations; and
• Perform overnight shift duty and attend emergency duties.

Applicants should have an associate degree/higher diploma/higher certificate in electrical engineering, building services engineering or related disciplines plus at least 5 years of relevant work experiences, 3 years of which should be at supervisory level and should be a registered electrical worker. A good command of both spoken and written Chinese (including Putonghua) and English as well as AutoCAD application is essential. The ideal candidate should also have good analytical and organizational skills, strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently.

Appointment to the position will normally be on two-year fixed term contract basis, renewable on mutual agreement. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
