Job summary

Tech Mahindra is seeking a seasoned data center network engineer to implement and upgrade core data center services. You will collaborate with solution architects to design LAN/WAN/WiFi, draft HLDs and LLDS, and translate business needs into precise technical specs.

The role includes developing migration plans to minimize downtime, coordinating with project managers, and ensuring thorough handover docs for BAU operations. Willingness to travel short-term is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience with data center network topologies (leaf-spine, three-tier, Clos, ACI).
  • Experience upgrading EOL/EOS devices (Cisco routers/switches), firewalls (Check Point), load balancers (F5).
  • Translate business requirements into technical specs; develop migration plans to minimize downtime.
  • HLD for LAN/WAN/WiFi; detailed LLD for target architectures; implementation plan creation.
  • Follow ITIL processes; perform change management and provide deployment documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed handover documentation and support post-change warranty period until BAU is established.
  • Collaborate with data center teams and MSPs to commission, upgrade, and decommission links (MPLS, SD-WAN, Internet).

Job description

  1. Possess hands-on experience with data center network topologies (leaf-spine architecture, three-tier architecture, Clos architecture, ACI architecture).
  2. Have practical experience in technical upgrades for end-of-life (EOL) or end-of-sale (EOS) network devices (e.g., Cisco routers/switches), firewalls (e.g., Checkpoint), load balancers (e.g., F5 LTM/GTM/APM), wireless controllers, and Cisco wireless access points.
  3. Ensure that technical upgrades of target devices are compatible with other on-site assets.
  4. Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  5. Have experience in developing data center migration plans to minimize or eliminate network downtime.
  6. Collaborate closely with solution architects to conduct high-level design (HLD) for local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and wireless networks (WiFi).
  7. Develop detailed design (LLD) for target architectures.
  8. Work closely with project managers to formulate implementation plans.
  9. Ensure complete handover documentation to the operations team.
  10. Collaborate closely with other data center support teams (server, storage, application teams).
  11. Collaborate with telecom operators (MSPs) to commission, upgrade, and decommission critical data center links (MPLS, SDWAN, Internet).
  12. Adhere to the client's ITIL processes and procedures.
  13. Conduct change management, prepare technical documentation (operation manuals), and formulate deployment plans.
  14. Proactively provide support during the post-change warranty period until devices are handed over to the business-as-usual (BAU) operations team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Master technologies such as SDWAN, MPLS, VPN, IPSec, GRE, wireless, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
  2. Have in-depth knowledge of data center LAN, wireless networks, firewall, and load balancer technologies (e.g., Cisco, Checkpoint, F5-related technologies).
  3. Be familiar with infrastructure requirements and components of WAN/LAN and wireless network architectures.
  4. Possess strong communication skills to interact effectively with technical users at all levels.
Certification Requirements
  1. Candidates with CCIE (Routing/Switching/Wireless), Checkpoint, or F5-related certifications will be preferred.
Other Requirements
  1. Willingness to accept short-term business trips.
