Job summary

Manpower Services (Hong Kong) Limited in Hong Kong is seeking a Life Underwriting Operations professional for Assistant Manager / Manager to drive underwriting core system and rule engine development. You will collect information to prepare user requirements and lead cross-functional initiatives.

The role requires at least six years in life underwriting with two in a supervisory capacity, strong analytical skills, and bilingual English/Chinese (Putonghua a plus).

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree holder.
• 6+ years underwriting experience in life insurance with at least 2 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
• Underwriting medical authority of not less than extra mortality 50% with high net worth experience preferred.
• Good integrity, quality-oriented, strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• Solutions thinker with strong analytical skills and independence.
• Open minded, flexible, proactive and stress-positive.
• Good leadership and team-building skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese; Putonghua proficiency.
• Professional qualifications such as FLMI, ACS, ALU or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of the underwriting core system, the underwriting rule engine and the point-of-sales platform.
• Collect and analyze information from an underwriting perspective to prepare user requirements.
• Manage project timelines and progress, and ensure the quality and timely delivery of assigned projects.
• Liaise with users, IT and vendors to design and enhance business solutions.
• Perform user acceptance testing (UAT) and conduct end-user training. Support ad-hoc production issues.
• Analyze underwriting data to identify trends, reporting findings and making data-driven recommendations for improvements.
• Perform underwriting risk assessments within the delegated authority limit to ensure accurate, fair, prompt and appropriate underwriting decisions.
• Work closely with stakeholders (legal, compliance, IT, product, business development and reinsurers) to support new initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
