Job summary

The University of Hong Kong invites applications for an IT Officer / IT Technician at the HKU Musketeers Foundation Institute of Data Science (Ref.: 537248). The role commences as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and retirement benefits scheme contributions totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with a possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Responsibilities

• Create, enhance, and manage web applications using front-end, back-end, and database tools.

• Help configure and set up computer systems and related devices.
• Conduct training sessions on software usage and IT protocols.
• Oversee IT equipment inventory and maintenance.
• Uphold adherence to IT guidelines and security protocols.
• Provide on-site IT assistance during events and after-hours support.

Job description

IT Officer / IT Technician in the HKU Musketeers Foundation Institute of Data Science (Ref.: 537248) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Diploma or higher, preferably a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline, with at least 5 years of full-time work experience.

Proven experience in Linux/Windows OS, and application server administration;

Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, common software;

Experience in photography, photo editing, and/or video editing is a plus;

Flexible, creative, passionate, willing to learn and self-motivated;

Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; and

Strong sense of responsibility, great interpersonal skills, and the ability to multitask in delivering satisfactory results within a tight timeframe both independently as well as a good team player are expected.

He/she will provide a wide spectrum of technical support to the Institute which is outlined below:

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview and written test. Applicants with less work experience will be considered for the position of IT Technician. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
