Job summary

Mercer in Hong Kong is seeking a results-driven Business Development professional to expand client relationships and drive new business in total rewards and employee benefits.

You will build a robust pipeline, run initial discovery meetings, develop compelling proposals, and collaborate with senior colleagues on strategy and design. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with hands-on training and strong coaching.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing or related field.
• 2+ years' experience in business development / sales / client servicing.
• Comfortable with activity-based sales (prospecting, meeting-setting, follow-ups) and managing multiple opportunities in parallel.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercial mindset; able to convert client needs into a clear value proposition, proposal structure and next steps.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
• Good knowledge of Hong Kong HR market, insurance and employee benefits operations is an advantage.
• Proficiency in MS Office and willingness to adopt AI tools.
• Fluency in English and Cantonese; Mandarin is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Drive new business with a focus on total rewards and employee benefits products.
• Build and manage a pipeline of target accounts in Hong Kong; maintain outreach cadence and qualified meetings.
• Run first meetings and discovery with HR/Finance/business owners to understand priorities and qualify opportunities.
• Develop client-ready proposals and pitches with senior colleagues for design and strategy.
• Stay informed about market developments, trends and competitors to identify opportunities.
• Construct marketing plans for offerings targeting potential accounts and complex campaigns.
• Leverage events and networking to generate leads and convert contacts into meetings and pipeline.
• Maintain CRM records, provide pipeline forecasts and ensure timely follow-up.
