Job summary

Mercer in Hong Kong is seeking an entry-level Compensation Consulting Analyst to join the Career Consulting team. The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week in the office, and offers exposure to pay philosophy, reward strategy, market trends and client reporting.

You will analyse financial and compensation data with Excel modelling, create exhibits, research market data, prepare client presentations in PowerPoint, and support seminars under supervision.

Qualifications

• University graduates in Human Resources, Business Management or related discipline.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience in management consulting, total rewards, compensation, HR or accounting preferred.
• Proactive and able to meet tight deadlines.
• Intellectually curious with high learnability.
• Flexible working with different seniors and strong team spirit.
• Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Analyse clients’ financial and compensation data versus market using Excel modelling.
• Work with colleagues to ensure market data are reasonable and aligned with client specifications; create exhibits.
• Understand talent management trends, pay practices and policies for a client and the broader market.
• Research public filings to gather financial data and build peer groups; use Mercer tools to run reports and extract market data.
• Assist in preparing client presentations/reports using Excel data and PowerPoint.
• Support seminar/workshop tasks under close supervision of senior consultants.

• Compensation consultants work with a wide range of clients to help them develop and implement reward programs for their employees, providing expert advice on pay philosophy, reward strategy, incentive design, market trends, regulations and best practices.
• Drawing on global research and rigorous analysis, compensation consultants equip clients with guidance, knowledge, tools and support to ensure their reward programs reinforce their strategic objectives.
• As an entry-level individual contributor, a Compensation Consulting Analyst is ready to apply the knowledge acquired via an advanced education and to start to develop professional skills with the help of a manager and more experienced team members.

We will count on you to:

• Under direct supervision analyse clients’ financial and compensation data versus market utilising excel modelling skills.
• Work with colleagues to ensure market data are reasonable and client specifications are met, and complete revisions as necessary. Create exhibits to compare market compensation data to client compensation data.
• Understand talent management trends, pay practices and policies for a particular client and within the broader marketplace.
• Research public filings to gather financial data, develop peer groups to analyse client data and uses Mercer’s in house technology to run reports and extract market data to use in production of analysis. May also research other areas to solicit knowledge at the request of senior consultants.
• Assist in preparing client presentations/ reports by using excel data and PowerPoint for review by more senior consultants.
• Support seminar/workshop tasks when necessary under close supervision of more senior consultants.

What you need to have:

• University graduates major in Human Resources, Business Management or relevant discipline
• 2+years of relevant work experience in management consulting, total rewards, compensation, human resources or accounting preferred.
