Job summary

The University of Hong Kong Estates Office is seeking Facilities Officers (Assistant Engineer level) to join the Maintenance and Operations Unit. The appointees will handle routine maintenance, improvements, and alterations for academic and laboratory buildings, coordinating with contractors and user departments.

They will contribute to tendering, site monitoring, and safety compliance, and may work shifts or overtime. A confidential inquiry contact is provided in the original posting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Building Services Engineering (Electrical & Mechanical) or related field, or a relevant diploma with 5 years’ experience.
• Valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card) under the relevant ordinance.
• Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD and hands-on experience with CAFM systems.
• Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration of Electrical Worker (Grade A or above) would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine building maintenance and oversee improvement and alteration works in academic and laboratory buildings.
• Manage tendering processes, site progress monitoring, and supervision of contractors.
• Liaise with user departments and external consultants to ensure works are correctly executed.
• Coordinate emergencies outside regular hours and provide shift/overtime coverage as required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Building Services Engineering (Electrical & Mechanical) or related field

Diploma with 5 years of relevant experience
