Job summary

The University of Hong Kong is seeking a Facilities Officer (Assistant Engineer) to join the Estates Office. The role focuses on routine building maintenance, improvement and alteration works for academic and laboratory facilities, with oversight on tendering, site progress, and contractor supervision.

Ideal candidates will hold a relevant degree or diploma with experience, possess safety training, and have proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD and CAFM systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Building Services Engineering (Electrical & Mechanical), Building Surveying, Real Estate, Facilities Management, Property Management, Building Services or related disciplines; OR a relevant diploma with 5 years' experience
• A valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card) issued under the Ordinance or equivalent
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, AutoCAD, and hands-on experience with CAFM system
• Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration of Electrical Worker (Grade A or above) would be an advantage

Responsibilities

• Routine building maintenance, improvement works and alteration works in all aspects, particularly for academic and laboratory buildings
• Tendering process, site progress monitoring, supervision of contractors
• Follow-up on service agreements and certificate renewals
• Communication with user departments / internal teams / external consultants to ensure works are executed with qualified services
• May work shifts, overtime and on public holidays; act as emergency team coordinator outside regular hours
