Job summary

The University of Hong Kong is seeking a Facilities Assistant in the Safety Office to commence in December 2026 on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and retirement benefits.

The appointee will assist in inspections, testing and problem solving of laboratory safety equipment, implement an environmental monitoring programme, and perform other duties as required. Salary is highly competitive and includes annual leave and medical benefits.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently in various settings.

Job description

Facilities Assistant in the Safety Office (Ref.:537758) (To commence in December 2026, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should have completed Form 5 or equivalent. Work experience in laboratories, workshops or general workplaces would be an advantage but is not compulsory, as on-the-job training will be provided. They should also have a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese; good communication and interpersonal skills; and the ability to work independently in a variety of settings. Possession of a Light Goods Vehicle driving licence would be an added advantage.

The appointee will assist in carrying out inspections, testing and problem solving in relation to laboratory safety equipment, implementing an environmental monitoring programme on University premises; and performing other duties as required.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
