Job summary

Airport Authority Hong Kong is seeking an experienced engineer on a fixed-term contract (minimum 2 years) to lead design, contract management and integration of enhancement and revamp works within the live airport environment. The role requires a formal engineering degree, professional qualifications and at least 6 years of relevant experience.

Strong communication in English/Chinese is essential, with Putonghua a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services or related field is required.
• Professional qualification from recognized bodies is required.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant design, contract management and implementation experience.
• Experience with airport works or live-operating environments is an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation and organizational skills.
• Excellent English and Chinese (Putonghua advantageous) written/spoken skills.
• Driving license (Class 1, 2) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify design and construction issues and liaise with relevant parties to provide engineering solutions.
• Manage works contractors and provide professional advice on technical and quality issues of enhancement and revamp works.
• Prepare tender documents and procurement contracts for enhancement and revamp works.
• Coordinate with maintenance and operation teams to ensure safe, timely delivery with minimal airport disruption.
• Ensure detail design, technical requirements, materials and workmanship meet quality standards.
• Monitor quality and progress of works through regular reviews.
• Review contractor submissions of method statements, materials, drawings and programmes.

Job description

This is a fixed-term contract position of minimum 2 years with possibility for renewal subject to organization need and individual performance.

Responsibilities:

• Identify design and construction issues and liaise with relevant parties to provide effective engineering solutions
• Manage works contractors and provide professional advice on technical and quality issues of enhancement and revamp works
• Prepare tender documents and procurement contracts for enhancement and revamp works
• Coordinate with maintenance and operation teams to ensure timely delivery of the works are conducted in safe and efficient manner with minimal impact on daily airport operations and completed on time
• Ensure detail design, technical requirements, material and workmanship are up to required quality standard
• Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation on quality and progress of the works
• Review and comment on contractors submissions of method statement, materials, drawings and programme

Requirements:

• Degree holder in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services Engineering or other related disciplines with minimum 6 years relevant working experience in design, contract management and implementation
• Professional qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services or other related engineering disciplines gained from recognized professional bodies is required
• Solid experience in airport works, sizeable electrical and mechanical facilities under a live operating environment is an advantage
• Experience in large scale project implementation is an advantage
• Proactive and detail-oriented with good interpersonal, communication, negotiation and organization skills
• Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese with knowledge of Putonghua is an advantage
• Proficient in Microsoft Office application and project management tools
• Holder of a valid HK driving license (class 1, 2) is preferred
