Job summary

The Hongkong Electric Co., Ltd is seeking a Mechanical/Construction Engineer to monitor project progress from design through close-out at Admiralty/Lamma Island. You will review drawings, assess risk, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance and quality across the lifecycle.

With at least 5 years’ experience in project engineering, you will conduct tender evaluations, manage contract administration, and apply knowledge of power plant equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
• A minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience.
• Sound knowledge of project engineering, coordination and contract administration.
• Practical experience and technical knowledge of power plant equipment would be an advantage.
• Familiar with relevant local and international regulations, procedures, standards and codes of practice.
• Proficient in computer applications including MS Office, AutoCAD, BIM, etc.
• Good command of English and Chinese languages, both spoken and written.
• Candidate with less relevant experience may be considered for the position of Engineer II.

Job description

Reporting to the Chief Mechanical Engineer/ Chief Manager (Construction Management), the appointee will mainly perform the following responsibilities:

To monitor project progress and coordinate activities throughout the project lifecycle, including design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and project close-out

To review engineering drawings, method statements, risk assessments and technical submissions to ensure compliance with project requirements, applicable standards and statutory regulations

To conduct tender evaluations and make recommendations

To liaise with internal stakeholders, contractors and other external parties to resolve environmental, quality, health and safety issues, and to ensure compliance with legal and statutory requirements as well as other project objectives

Requirements:

This is a 2-year contract position. Renewal of contract or appointment as a member of our permanent workforce is subject to the Company’s business needs and the performance of the individual.
