Cathaybk in Hong Kong seeks an experienced back-office operations professional to handle daily settlement operations for Global Markets products including FX/MM, bonds, derivatives and structured products. You will ensure accurate processing and timely settlement in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

The role requires 7+ years in back-office roles within financial institutions, HKTR familiarity, and strong analytical and communication skills in English and Chinese.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years in back office operations in financial institutions.
• Knowledge of full settlement cycle for capital markets products (FX/MM, bonds, derivatives).
• Team spirit and strong communication & organization skills.
• Familiar with HKTR reporting and regulatory reporting.
• Experience with project implementation, system enhancements and UAT.
• Strong grasp of operational controls and regulatory risk.
• Experience with market systems such as SWIFT/RTGS/Summit/Clearstream is an advantage.
• Good analytical and communication skills.
• Self-motivated, detail-minded and independent under pressure.
• Excellent English and Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin).
• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and Word.

• Prepare and submit regulatory reports including HKTR and other filings.

• Review and maintain SOPs and control measures to mitigate risk.
• Liaise with front office and Head Office on daily operations and projects.
• Prepare MIS, internal and regulatory reports.
• Support ad hoc assignments from Head of Operations and supervisor.

Responsibilities:

• Handle daily operations and settlement activities for Global Markets products, including FX/MM, Bonds, Structured Products, Derivatives and other Treasury-related products
• Ensure all transactions are processed accurately and settled in a timely manner in compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements and market practices
• Perform trade verification, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation and exception handling
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports, including Hong Kong Trade Repository (HKTR) reporting and other regulatory filings as required
• Participate in new product development, system enhancement initiatives, process re-engineering and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Review, develop and maintain operational procedures, SOPs and control measures to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate operational risks
• Liaise with front office, cross-functional teams and Head Office on daily operations, projects, and issue resolution
• Prepare management information (MIS), internal reports and regulatory reports
• Support ad hoc assignments as required by Head of Operations and team supervisor

Candidates are expected to possess:

• Bachelor’s Degree with at least 7 years of relevant working experience in back office operations in a financial institution (preferably investment bank / securities group)
• Knowledge of the full settlement cycle of capital markets products. For example, FX/MM products, options, derivatives, structured products, securities, bonds and funds
• Team spirit, good interpersonal, communication and organization skill
• Familiar with HKTR reporting requirements and regulatory reporting processes
• Experience in project implementation, system enhancement and UAT testing
• Strong understanding of operational controls, risk management and regulatory requirements
• Hands-on experience in market systems such as SWIFT, RTGS, Summit, Clearstream or related systems is an advantage
• Good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
• Self-motivated, detail-minded and able to work independently under pressure
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Mandarin)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
