Vocational Training Council in Hong Kong seeks an IT Officer to oversee campus network, WIFI, SSL certs, and server-based IT applications. You will ensure reliable operations and maintenance schedules while supporting end users.

You will assist Data Centre management, monitor systems, and handle Windows/Linux/virtualisation/cloud services. Strong automation experience to optimise infrastructure is desired.

Qualifications

• Requires a recognised IT degree or higher diploma with relevant experience.
• Good knowledge/certifications in IT areas is advantageous (networks, servers, monitoring, cloud).
• Proficiency in English and Chinese.
• Strong interpersonal skills, self-initiative and team spirit.

Description du poste

Major Duties

• (a) To oversee and maintain the campus network, WIFI service, SSL certificate operation, IT application systems with servers;
• (b) To provide support on Data Centre management, operations and monitoring;
• (c) To manage IT systems and services on Windows / Linux / Virtualisation / Cloud platforms;
• (d) To utilise automation tools with coding agents to optimise IT infrastructure and streamline Data Centre workflows; and

Requirements

• (a) (i) A recognised degree in IT or equivalent with at least 2 years’ relevant experience;
• OR
• (ii) A recognised higher diploma in IT or equivalent with at least 5 years' relevant experience;
• (b) Applicants with good knowledge / certifications and hands-on experience in ANYof the following aspects will be an advantage:
  • (i) Network administration (Cisco / H3C / Ruckus / F5 / Infoblox);
  • (ii) Server administration (MS Windows / Linux / AIX);
  • (iii) Vibe-coding for system administration (Cursor / Grok Build / Claude Code / Devin Desktop);and
  • (iv) Monitoring (Nagios / SCOM / PRTG / Site 24x7).
• (c) Proficiency in English and Chinese; and
• (d) Good interpersonal skills, self-initiative and be a good team player.
• (Applicants with a recognised degree in IT but less experience, or a recognised higher diploma in IT with at least 3 years' relevant experience may apply. Candidates who have completed or are awaiting formal results of a degree may also apply.)

• (1) The post is at the rank of “Officer”.
• (2) Applicants with less relevant experience and / or qualification may be considered for the post of IT Specialist, at the rank of “Technician”.
• (3) Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.
• (4) Appointee(s) may be required to work irregular hours / outside normal office hours and / or at different work locations on a need basis.
• (5) Appointee(s) may be posted to any operational units of the VTC, for example a campus / centre, to carry out similar duties, and have different post titles which are subject to change at the Council’s discretion.
