Job summary

Vocational Training Council (VTC) invites applications for an IT Officer to oversee campus network services, Data Centre operations and IT systems across Windows, Linux, virtualization and cloud platforms. The role requires hands-on management and automated workflow improvement.

Candidates should have IT degrees or equivalent, with 2+ years (degree) or 5+ years (diploma) experience, and strong English/Chinese communication. Final appointment may be at Officer or Technician level.

Qualifications

• Degree in IT or equivalent with at least 2 years’ relevant experience; OR higher diploma in IT or equivalent with at least 5 years' relevant experience.
• Knowledge/certifications in system administration will be an advantage: Cursor, Grok Build, Claude Code, Devin Desktop.
• Proficiency in English and Chinese; good interpersonal skills; able to work in a team.

Job description

(a) To oversee and maintain the campus network, WIFI service, SSL certificate operation, IT application systems with servers;

(b) To provide support on Data Centre management, operations and monitoring;

(c) To manage IT systems and services on Windows / Linux / Virtualisation / Cloud platforms;

(d) To utilise automation tools with coding agents to optimise IT infrastructure and streamline Data Centre workflows; and

Requirements

• (a) (i) A recognised degree in IT or equivalent with at least 2 years’ relevant experience; OR
• (ii) A recognised higher diploma in IT or equivalent with at least 5 years' relevant experience;
• (b) Applicants with good knowledge / certifications and hands-on experience in ANY of the following aspects will be an advantage:
• (iii) Vibe-coding for system administration (Cursor / Grok Build / Claude Code / Devin Desktop); and
• (c) Proficiency in English and Chinese; and
• (d) Good interpersonal skills, self-initiative and be a good team player.

Notes

• (1) The post is at the rank of “Officer”.
• (2) Applicants with less relevant experience and / or qualification may be considered for the post of IT Specialist, at the rank of “Technician”.
• (3) Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.
• (4) Appointee(s) may be required to work irregular hours / outside normal office hours and / or at different work locations on a need basis.
• (5) Appointee(s) may be posted to any operational units of the VTC, for example a campus / centre, to carry out similar duties, and have different post titles which are subject to change at the Council’s discretion.
