Job summary

Charterhouse Hong Kong seeks an ambitious Assistant Air Freight Operations Manager to oversee shift operations, drive quality improvement projects, and streamline air export gateway workflows. You will lead a 24/7 team, manage documentation handovers, and coordinate with airlines and IT teams to implement automation and improve throughput.

The role requires 8+ years in airfreight forwarding with supervisory experience, strong leadership, and a solid background in documentation and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years in airfreight forwarding with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Deep knowledge of air export documentation, CTO handling, and airline booking workflows.
• Good understanding of Hong Kong Customs clearance regulations and air import processes.
• IATA DGR/Awareness Certificate preferred.
• Strong mindset in continuous process improvement and project execution.
• Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and shift coordination skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) with high data accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and supervise a 24/7 shift operations team handling air export documentation and cargo workflows.
• Ensure accurate handover of shipments and documentation to CTOs and co-loaders.
• Maintain proactive communication with airlines, cargo handlers, and internal teams to resolve operational exceptions.
• Collaborate with global IT/systems teams to test, deploy, and upgrade digital forwarding systems and workflow automation tools.
• Monitor daily KPI dashboards and analyze throughput data to drive process efficiency, reduce error rates, and optimize shift utilization.
• Conduct RCA on operational mishandlings and formulate robust CAPA plans.
• Champion daily quality assurance, ensuring air movements adhere to local customs laws, security standards, and carrier guidelines.
• Assist with internal audits and regulatory compliance for ISO, GDP and TAPA.

Job Responsibilities:

• Partner with the Dept Head to lead, coach, and supervise a 24/7 shift operations team handling air export documentation and cargo workflows.
• Ensure accurate, time-critical handover of shipments and physical/electronic documentation to CTOs and co-loaders.
• Maintain proactive communication with major airlines, cargo handlers, and internal customer service teams to resolve operational exceptions.
• Collaborate with global enterprise IT/systems teams to test, deploy, and upgrade digital forwarding systems and workflow automation tools.
• Monitor daily KPI dashboards and analyze throughput data to drive process efficiency, reduce error rates, and optimize shift utilization.

Conduct RCA on operational mishandlings and formulate robust CAPA plans.

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor's degree or above in in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of solid experience in airfreight forwarding (Operations, Customer Service, or Logistics Projects background), with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Deep practical knowledge of air export documentation, CTO handling procedures, and airline booking workflows.
• Good understanding of Hong Kong Customs clearance regulations and air import processes.
• Possession of a valid IATA DGR / Awareness Certificate is highly preferred.
• Grounded mindset in continuous process improvement, operational quality, and project execution.
• Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and shift coordination skills.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word) with high accuracy in data management.
