Environmental services include:
- Annual deep cleaning of hospitals and outpatient clinics, including all rooms, furniture, fixtures, and floors.
- Reactive decontamination following discharge of infectious patients, using methods such as UV light and fogging/gassing treatments.
- Delivering exceptional customer service.
- Carrying out tasks with attention to detail.
- Working effectively as part of a diverse team.
- Providing flexibility, e.g., supporting housekeeping in clinical areas as needed.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide an efficient rapid response housekeeping service, meeting departmental and Trust objectives.

Job responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deploy HPV and UV-C decontamination in clinical and non-clinical areas.
- Vacuum carpets and upholstery, damp mop hard floors, machine buffing, and spray cleaning.
- Damp dust furniture, work surfaces, and fixtures; clean glass and remove fingerprints.
- Clean toilets, sinks, baths, showers, urinals, and bodily fluid spills following procedures.
- Empty waste bins, dispose of waste safely per policies.
- Replenish consumables like hand towels, soap, and toilet rolls.
- Operate heavy-duty cleaning machines, including steam cleaners and floor machines.
- Report faults or defects to supervisors.
- Remain contactable during shifts for emergency requests.
- Maintain records of activities and data input.
- Monitor stock levels and report needs.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols.
- Assist with moving stores and equipment.
- Perform additional cleaning duties as directed.
Health and Safety
- Take reasonable care to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Use protective equipment provided.
- Follow health and safety guidelines.
General issues
- Wear correct uniform and display ID badges.
- Adhere to Trust policies and attend mandatory training.
- Training provided; do not perform untrained tasks.

Qualifications/Education
- Good command of spoken English
Previous Experience
- Housekeeping in healthcare
- Deep cleaning in healthcare
Skills/Knowledge/Ability
- Team player, effective communication skills.
- Ability to organise, prioritise, learn, and record effectively.
- Computer skills and decontamination training (Hydro peroxide vapour, UV-C).
Physical Requirements
- Physically capable of performing duties, manual handling compliant.
