A maritime service provider is seeking a Second Engineer for the REV Ocean vessel. This role involves managing engineering operations and ensuring safety and compliance onboard. Candidates must possess valid STCW95 certification and CoC A-III/2, along with extensive experience in similar roles. The Vessel REV Ocean is unlike any other ship. It is equipped with some of the most sophisticated facilities onboard for carrying out cutting‑edge ocean science, as well as offering charter opportunities designed to integrate exploration, adventure, and science. REV Ocean will operate as a research vessel for 2/3 of the year and be available for charters for 1/3 of the year.
We are looking for experienced 2nd Engineer ( watch keeper ) for REV OCEAN as follows:
The 2nd Engineer is an engine officer and is responsible for managing the engineering spaces during shifts. The role will include other duties as designated by the Chief Engineer or 1st Engineer. This job description should not be interpreted as a complete summary of job responsibilities, or the limitation of job holder accountability. It should be recognised as an overview of potential responsibilities and duties for the 2nd Engineer, considered advantageous to the successful operation of the vessel.
Safety Duties:
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
Language requirements: Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Additional languages are considered beneficial.
Computer knowledge: Good working knowledge of onboard computerised planned maintenance programs and Microsoft applications.
