A prominent heritage organization is looking for Visitor Services Assistants to join their team at Glenfinnan Monument and Visitor Centre. In this customer-facing role, you'll welcome visitors, provide information, and help create memorable experiences. The role requires strong communication skills, a warm demeanor, and a love for storytelling. The organization offers flexible hours, generous holidays, and the chance to work in a stunning historic setting. Opportunities for further seasonal contracts are also available.
The National Trust for Scotland is recruiting Visitor Services Assistants to join the team at the Glenfinnan Monument and Visitor Centre, one of Scotland’s most iconic and internationally recognised historic sites.
Set at the head of Loch Shiel and known across the world, Glenfinnan welcomes visitors from every corner of the globe. This role offers the chance to work at the heart of that experience, helping people connect with the place, its stories, and its significance, from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave.
As a Visitor Services Assistant, you will work across a variety of front facing areas including the arrival space, shop, catering outlets, and the historic Monument itself. You will welcome visitors warmly, answer questions, share stories, and help ensure every visit feels well organised, informative, and memorable.
You will support retail and catering activity by keeping displays attractive and well stocked, processing sales accurately, and actively promoting the café, shop, and National Trust for Scotland membership in a way that feels natural and customer focused. You will also help gather photos or short videos to support social media promotion and encourage future visits.
Working closely with colleagues across departments, you will support each other during busy periods, assist with events and functions, and help ensure the site runs smoothly throughout the day. Behind the scenes, you will help prepare for opening and closing, maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation, and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
This is a role that combines people skills, teamwork, and pride in place, with the shared purpose of caring for a site that means a great deal to many people.
No formal qualifications are required, as full training will be provided. Experience in a customer facing role is helpful, but more important is a warm, welcoming manner, strong communication skills, and a genuine enjoyment of working with people.
You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, flexible in your approach to working patterns, and organised enough to manage busy periods with calm and care. An enthusiasm for history, storytelling, and the aims of the National Trust for Scotland is essential, along with attention to detail and pride in presentation standards.
This role offers the opportunity to work in one of Scotland’s most remarkable settings as part of a supportive and friendly team. Contracts offer sociable hours, generous holidays, and flexibility to suit availability.
Lifts to work and car sharing are available from the Fort William and Mallaig directions. There may also be the option of staff accommodation to rent, subject to availability, which should be indicated on application.
There is potential for further seasonal contracts from November to March, subject to a selection process later in the year.
