Job description

Life changing therapies. Global impact. Bridge to thousands of biopharma companies and their patients.

We are PCI.

Our investment is in People who make an impact, drive progress and create a better tomorrow. Our strategy includes building teams across our global network to pioneer and shape the future of PCI.

The role:

Join the Engineering team at PCI Tredegar and take a hands-on role in ensuring top-tier quality and operational excellence. As a Multi-skilled Engineer, you will bring your technical expertise to the forefront, helping resolve quality issues, supporting planned preventative maintenance programs, and ensuring all activities meet GMP standards in line with company policies and business requirements.

You will play a key role in minimizing downtime, handling equipment breakdowns efficiently, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement on site. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of a forward-thinking team with a clear focus on quality and performance.

This role involves a shift pattern with two shifts (morning and afternoon), an early finish on Fridays, and one night shift every four nights.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and service all manufacturing, packaging, and utility equipment involved in product production at PCI Tredegar.

  • Support equipment set-up and changeovers, and provide training to appropriate staff as needed.

  • Diagnose and repair equipment breakdowns efficiently to minimise downtime and product loss, working independently when required.

  • Contribute to and carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), ensuring all relevant documentation and SOPs are followed.

  • Monitor and maintain performance of critical utilities and process equipment in a cGMP environment, including repairs, calibrations, and adjustments.

  • Liaise with internal departments and third-party contractors to schedule maintenance and ensure timely completion of associated documentation.

  • Maintain and manage critical spare parts and support vendor coordination for site facilities and utilities maintenance.

  • Assist in the design, procurement, and management of production tooling and building services equipment.

  • Support commissioning, validation, and documentation for new plant and equipment installations.

  • Provide technical support across departments, including troubleshooting, optimal machine settings, and process improvements.

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, health & safety regulations, and environmental standards at all times.

  • Train and mentor apprentices and team members, promoting professional standards of workmanship.

  • Monitor and help manage electrical energy consumption in line with environmental policies.

  • Support cross-functional collaboration to drive continuous improvement in quality, reliability, and operational performance.

  • Maintain flexibility to support business needs during weekends or outside standard working hours.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience in electrical engineering with a practical, hands-on approach.

  • Background in the pharmaceutical industry (but not essential).

  • Proven ability to thrive in an operational setting and resolve complex technical issues.

  • Strong understanding of preventive maintenance systems (PPM).

  • Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.

  • A team player with strong communication abilities (both verbal and written).
